Description
Tonina Fluviatilis is a stunning aquarium stem plant that adds a captivating touch of beauty to any planted tank. Belonging to the same family as Eriocaulon, Tonina is known for its delicate nature in aquarium settings. It thrives in moderately soft water with a mildly acidic substrate. Providing ample lighting (1 watt+ per liter) and CO2 injection are essential for its successful growth. Additionally, maintaining a good supply of iron and micronutrients is crucial, while ensuring that nitrate and phosphate levels are not completely depleted.
While the Tonina primarily grows vertically, with sufficient light, it will produce side shoots. Adequate lighting is key to its overall health and development. Propagating the plant involves cutting offshoots and replanting them in nutrient-rich substrate. It's recommended to keep the cut shoot tips shorter than 2 inches to ensure aesthetically pleasing new stems without excessive root growth on the sides. With its fresh and vibrant leaves, Tonina is an excellent choice for adding a green accent to the middle or background of an aquarium, particularly in Dutch-style tanks.
Notes:
- Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
- Tonina is known for being more difficult to keep in a planted tank. Because of this, it is not an aquarium plant species that's recommended for new aquarium hobbyists.
- CO2 injection will create better growth.
- Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.

Provide high lighting levels to promote healthy growth and encourage the plant's vibrant coloration.
Maintain stable water parameters, including temperature, pH, and water hardness.
Supplement with CO2 injection and nutrient-rich fertilizers to support optimal growth.
Don'ts:
Avoid exposing Rare Tonina Fluviatilis to high levels of dissolved nutrients or organic waste, as it can lead to algae growth and hinder the plant's development.
