Amano Shrimp Care
Our Australian Amano Shrimp (aka Caridina typus) are a variant of Amano Shrimp that are fierce algae eaters. They will eat all types of algae, including but not limited to green stringy algae, black beard algae, hair algae, blue green algae and grazes leftover food.
They are quite hardy too and can live happily in a wide range of water parameters. Provide plenty of hiding spots with plants and decorations to help them feel safe and secure. When algae is scarce, make sure to provide some algae wafers and occasional blanched vegetables for a well-balanced diet. It is highly recommended to keep a lid with these Amano shrimp because they are known to try and escape new aquariums!

I bought four Amano shrimp on the weekend and they all turned up alive and well via express post the following Tuesday. Very well packed in a little polystyrene thermal box. These guys are huge too. Roughly triple the size of most of my cherry shrimp. They got to work cleaning up algae immediately. Very happy. Thanks!
This order actually arrived alive. Out of the 4 I purchased 2 are right on 2cm the other 2 are 1.5 max. So be aware they are smaller than advertised. Very fun shrimp to watch. Happy to finally have some it’s just a shame we can’t get real amano shrimp in Australia

We ship from Mondays to Wednesdays (all orders from Monday to noon of Wednesday will be ship out in the same week and any orders made after noon of Wednesday will be processed next Monday).
- Any orders you make from noon Wednesday onward will be processed the next Monday.
- Most orders from Monday to noon of Wednesday will be shipped out in the same week.
Any other dry goods, bonsai, plants, and accessories will be sent via standard post. Usually, you will receive the items within 3-7 business day after order is fulfilled.
