Ghost Shrimp
Ghost Shrimp
Ghost Shrimp (Palaemonetes sp.) are transparent and fascinating shrimp species that add a unique touch to an aquarium. Their see-through appearance allows for a captivating view of their internal organs, making them an intriguing species to observe. Ghost Shrimp are generally hardy and easy to care for, making them suitable for beginners. They thrive in freshwater aquariums with neutral water conditions and prefer a varied diet that includes algae, decaying plants, and small live or frozen foods.
Ghost Shrimp are often sold as feeders, but they are great algae cleaners and tank scavengers. Their bent, clear bodies make them unique and you can see their digestive tract working as they eat. Ghost Shrimp are easy to care for and, in the right tank environment, will breed readily. They are great for beginners to shrimp keeping. They do need some hardness to their tank water, was with all shrimp. They are sensitive to copper, like other invertebrates, so attention is needed when adding medications or fertilizers to your aquarium.
