Description 

Rotala sp. "Green" is a variant of the variable species Rotala Rotundifolia. In contrast to "standard" R. rotundifolia, R. sp. "Green" never turns reddish but keeps its fresh green colour even under very strong light. The plant has an attractive bushy elegantly overhanging growth habit. Occasional thorough trimming is recommendable, as this plant is a very fast grower. Amano masterfully uses the characteristic overhanging growth habit of this Rotala in many of his aquascapes.

This plant that entered the aquarium plant trade as Rotala sp. "Green" is apparently a form of the very variable species Rotala rotundifolia. The characteristics of the submersed form of R. rotundifolia "Green" are:

- purely green colour of leaves as well as stems,

- a weeping habit (at first, the shoots grow upright, but then bow down), and

- always only 2 (not 3 or more) leaves per node.

Rotala Green is a vibrant and visually striking aquatic plant that adds a splash of color to any aquascape. It features slender stems with bright green leaves that create a bushy and dense appearance. This plant is often used as a background or midground accent, providing height and visual interest.

To cultivate Rotala Green successfully, provide it with moderate to high lighting conditions. This plant thrives in nutrient-rich water and benefits from regular fertilization. CO2 supplementation is highly recommended to promote its growth and vibrant coloration. Regular pruning is necessary to maintain its desired shape and prevent it from overshadowing other plants. It is important to note that Rotala Green can be demanding and requires attention to water parameters and maintenance.
